Site & Content Background

The content on this blog has quite a long story behind it. It used to be hosted another domain that I started in 2018 and built out until 2022. But that website as a whole was far too unfocused in terms of topics covered, with loads of different articles on different sub-topics broadly related to IT/networking/tech, but not enough depth within each category.

This lack of topical authority meant that site was hit badly in the Google Updates of 2022/2023, since they were specifically punishing sites that lacked topical authority in terms of not enough content on each particular sub-topic on the site.

But I still had absolute confidence in most of the individual pieces of content in terms of helpfulness and quality. It was just the unfocused structure of the content as a whole on the old site that was hurting it post 2022 updates.

Therefore I decided to redirect a large chunk of it from the old domain onto this new domain (Home Network Informer), this time grouping the content in a few clear topical clusters (powerline adapters, Wi-Fi extenders, router settings). That way Google can now clearly see what the site is about, and see that there is in depth topical coverage of a few clear topics, instead of superficial coverage of loads of different topics.

• Router FAQs – 69 articles
• Wi-Fi extender FAQs – 60+ articles
• Powerline adapters – 30+ articles (still building this cluster out).
• Weak Wi-Fi signal – 13 articles (still needs building out)

Therefore this site is built how Google wants them built nowadays. And the growth figures show – it’s doing very well despite the new domain only being launched year end 2023.

Because much of the content was already established on the old domain, it already had a kick start and has grown quickly, returning back to the place it belongs in the search results and winning some snippets again.

So the traffic and growth is very good already – it’s already well over 20,000 pageviews per month (all organic SEO traffic) and growing fast (contact for more detailed info). No paid links, so social media, just old fashioned traffic from search engines.

But I’m looking to sell, so contact me if you’re into IT/home networking/tech and want to build on the foundation I’ve started with this new site.

So Why Selling?

So why would I want to sell a site that’s doing so well so quickly? Honestly, there’s a couple of reasons:

1. I’ve got new passions and new sites I’ve started from 2023 onwards that I want to be my main focus now.
2. Related to the last point, I’ve got far too many new sites on the go now to manage and grow them all, and I want to sell most of them and narrow down to 1 or 2 sites maximum that I can devote all my time to.
3. My passion for this topic isn’t what it used to be. I was really into the topics from 2018-2021. But recently, I’ve developed new interests and passions that take priority. This site needs someone really into networking who can devote the time to maintaining and building it.
